Dozens of pages, manuscripts, responsa and novellae in the holy handwriting of the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik Haver, from the period of his tenure as rabbi of Tiktin. One of the responsa bears his full signature "Yitzchak Eizik, son of the Rabbi and Master Yaakov, of blessed memory, officiating in the holy community of Tiktin and the region," dated "Tirbeh" haDa'at [5607 / 1847], and an additional signed responsum. * 8 opening pages from a lengthy responsum to Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan, Av Beit Din of Brezin [and Kovno; published with alterations in Responsa Binyan Olam, siman 1]. * 12 pages of a lengthy responsum to Rabbi Efraim Fishel, Av Beit Din of Stawiski. [In Responsa Binyan Olam, Even HaEzer, this responsum was published with many alterations, siman 9 in the old edition and siman 10 in the Mossad HaRav Kook edition.] Before us are 4 pages of the opening of the responsum, 4 pages of the conclusion with his signature, and 4 pages of an alternative version of the middle section, which partially overlaps with the page preceding the conclusion. * 6½ pages of a complete and signed responsum written to his son Rabbi Yosef, Av Beit Din of Knyszyn, Tiktin, 5605. [Published in Responsa Binyan Olam, Yoreh De'ah, siman 59.] A tear with a lacuna in the middle of the signature. * 8 pages of novellae on tractate Pesachim. [Apparently unpublished.] * 4 pages of the beginning of a responsum to Rabbi Binyamin Parin-Gold on matters of written oath. [This responsum appears to be unpublished, though in several places in the works of Rabbi Eizik Haver he is found to have discussed this matter of "written oath."] The Gaon and Kabbalist Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik Haver (1787–1853, Otzar HaRabbanim 11168), one of the transmitters of the Gra's Kabbalistic teachings, "a second voice of the Gra" — for already when he was about 14, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Shklov (a disciple of the Gra) recognized in him a fitting vessel to receive instruction in the wisdom of Kabbalah. While still young, his name became renowned as a Gaon and an extraordinary master of all the depths of Torah, and he served as Av Beit Din in several important communities: Prozna, Roziniai, Wolkowysk. From 1837 to 1849 he served as rabbi of Tiktin, and in 1849 he moved to Suwalki, where he served as rabbi for approximately four years. A towering Gaon among the greatest rabbis of his generation and among the leading halachic decisors of his time. He completed the study of the entire Talmud 60 times. He authored dozens of books in both revealed and hidden Torah, of which only a portion were published, including many works of Kabbalah in the tradition of the Gra, responsa in halacha, and discussions of talmudic topics. Approximately 38 pages, 33.5 × 22 cm. Written densely, most on bluish paper. Condition good to good-fair, stains and wear.
