Letter from the rabbis and notables of the Yazd community to the Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Jacob Meir. Yazd (Persia), {year} [1935]. Large sheet of paper, in its first part a long letter in Rashi script. An address to the Chief Rabbi concerning a dispute that broke out in the community, denying the false accusations made against Rabbi Jacob Meir regarding the slaughterer Rabbi Joseph Ḥayim Or Sarga and requesting permission to resume his slaughtering. The letter is signed by the rabbis and notables of the Yazd community. Approximately 70 signatures, some accompanied by seals. Among the signatories in the first row: "ע"ה Moses Rafael ben Rabbi Moses", "Raḥamim ben Yeḥezkel", "the young scholar David ben Joseph", "the young scholar Or ben Rabbi Moses Sarga". 55×42 cm. Good condition, several small stains and tears. Fold marks and creases. Framed.
