"שיויתי" – כתב-יד מעוטר על קלף – מרוקו

["שיויתי"], "זכות רבי דוד הלוי תגן עליכם כיר"א" [כן יהי רצון אמן], sheet decorated for hanging in a synagogue. Morocco, [19th century]. Ink and color on parchment; gold color; tiny metal discs (sequins). At the top of the sheet is an illustration of a crown, beneath it the name of God and below it the inscription "זכות רבי דוד הלוי תגן עליכם כירא" [Rabbi David ben Rabbi Samuel HaLevi from Draa, among the Spanish exiles who came to Morocco in {year}; among the sages and Kabbalists of Morocco, author of "Sefer HaMalkhut"]. In the center of the sheet three menorahs: the right one drawn from the words "Ana B'koach", the central one from the words of Psalm 67 and the left one from the words of Psalm 121 (Song of Ascents). Below the menorahs appears a Kabbalistic prayer text – "Prayer for Sustenance from the words of the Holy Zohar". The sheet is decorated in colors and gold ornaments, with geometric and botanical patterns; surrounded entirely by a frame in the shape of a window and also the menorah of "Ana B'koach" and the menorah of "Song of Ascents" are surrounded by frames in the shape of pointed windows. The row of flowers in the outer frame, the crown at the top of the sheet and the central menorah are decorated with tiny metal discs (sequins), which were sewn with thread to the parchment sheet (on its reverse side papers were glued to protect the threads from unraveling). 59 × 40 cm.
