Handwritten leaves (in pencil) – a diary describing various incidents in the Lodz Ghetto. Unknown author. 1942. Yiddish. Description of various incidents of the Ghetto life; a particularly detailed description of the Children's Deportation and the reactions of the Ghetto Jews when they heard the bad news about the deportation and expressed their criticism against the Judenrat head Mordechai Haim Rumkowsky. The Jews resisted against Rumkowsky's conduct and claimed that he cooperated with the Nazis. The last leaf bears a citation of the edict issued on 8.9.1942, forbidding the Jews to leave their apartments. 10 pp,15 cm. Fair condition. Stains and tears to all the leaves.
