A magnificent Megillat Esther, with precise and artistic STa"M script accompanied by impressive illustrations. Ink, gouache, acrylic, tempera, watercolors, and gold on parchment. [Land of Israel, 5767–5769 / 2007–2009]. Signed by the artist: "ש. רצון 2009 S. Ratson." The scroll was planned over several months and written by hand for the sanctity of a megillah on 8 large parchment sheets (height 64.5 cm), sewn together with kosher sinews, in precise and artistic STa"M script, accompanied by illustrations depicting its narrative in shades of blue and burgundy, with 23-karat gold ornaments. 18 columns; 16 of them include text, and at the bottom — an illustration related to the scroll's content in various shades of blue, averaging 24×11 cm. Between columns, magnificent crown ornaments (in four different styles) in burgundy and gold frames serve as dividers. The first and last columns each contain only a large illustration extending the full length of the parchment sheet: the first column — "Megillat Esther" / "ככה יעשה לאיש אשר המלך חפץ ביקרו"; the last column — Mordecai the Jew and Queen Esther. The illustrations were executed with fine brushes, slowly and with great care. The names of the ten sons of Haman were written in the customary manner, in a dedicated column of 11 lines, brick upon brick and row upon row. The scroll was written on kosher parchment with kosher ink for STa"M, proofreaded by "Mishmereth STa"M" of Bnei Brak, and is fit for public reading. The STa"M scribe — Yehuda Tzvi Ben-David, born in 5717 / 1957. Has been engaged in STa"M writing for more than 15 years. Studied psychology at the University of Haifa; at the age of 28 he accepted upon himself the yoke of Torah and mitzvot and joined the community of Rabbi Mordechai Auerbach shlit"a in Tel Aviv. The artist — Shuli Ratzon, born in 5739 / 1978. From the community of Rabbi Auerbach in Tel Aviv, residing in Bnei Brak. She has trained in art studies under several artists, specializing in illustration and decoration of Judaica items using a variety of techniques. A magnificent Megillat Esther written and illustrated over three years, an impressive modern artistic Judaica piece produced in a single copy, utterly unique. Accompanying the scroll is a letter from Rabbi Mordechai Auerbach, confirming that he knows both the scribe and the artist, and that the megillah is a unique copy. Height: 64.5 cm, length: 5 meters. Housed in a gilded plastic box measuring 80.5×25×13.5 cm. Very good condition.
