Silver tobacco box (signed on its inner part), with engraved ornaments. [India? Late 19th century]. On the lid of the box is engraved an illustration of "Samson and the Lion" in a naïve style, and above it is engraved the name of the box's owner, "A. M. Panizal" - Rabbi Elijah Moses Panizal, Chief Rabbi and famous preacher, in 1907 first to Zion in Jerusalem; judge, preacher and head of the rabbinical court in North Africa, Italy, India and Bukhara. One of the founders of the "Mishgav Ladach" hospital in the Old City; worked for many institutions in Jerusalem. The box is also decorated on its lower part. 7.4X5.4 cm. Good condition. Signs of corrosion on its inner part.
