Parts one and two of the well-known work by Jacob Halevi Sapir (1822-1885) – a scholar, manuscript researcher, traveler and emissary. In 1859, Sapir was sent as an emissary to India and Australia to raise funds for the construction of the "Hurva" synagogue in Jerusalem. During his travels, he was forced to pass through Yemen, and his encounter with Yemenite Jews left a profound mark on him. When he returned from Australia via Aden in 1864, he gathered information and materials on Yemenite Jews, which led to the composition of his work "Even Sapir". 1.
