Correspondance diplomatique et rabbinique Cansino — Oran

Clarification (June 2026): this record describes a hypothetical documentary corpus, not a catalogued manuscript. Research has identified no constituted and catalogued "Cansino correspondence" collection. The Cansino family is well attested (official interpreters of Oran, 1556-1666), and the only known printed Cansino work is Extremos y grandezas de Constantinopla by Jacob Cansino II (Madrid, 1638). The leads (Simancas, PARES) are surveying projects yet to be carried out. The supposed corpus — often trilingual (Hebrew, Judeo-Arabic, Spanish) — would document diplomatic negotiations, the commercial relations Oran–Livorno–Tunis–Amsterdam, the responsa exchanged with Fez, Tetouan, Algiers, and the communal life of the presidio of Oran (1509-1669).
