Region: Bulgarie — Varna

Intersection register · custodian, not owner

Varna, Bulgaria's main Black Sea port, was home to an active Sephardic Jewish community since the Ottoman era, whose role in maritime trade was notable. The community, numerically significant, was deported in 1943 but miraculously saved thanks to Bulgarian resistance to the Final Solution.

The days of this book

This book bears no memory day yet. The sources that document Varna give years and centuries, never a day; we do not invent one.

You know a date — a remembrance, a hilloula, the anniversary of a departure? Give it its day
