Umm el-Umdan, an archaeological site in central Judea generally identified with ancient Modiin (Modi'im), the birthplace of the Maccabees. Remains from the Hasmonean period (second–first century B.C.E.), including a probable assembly house, have been uncovered there, attesting to the presence of the family of Mattathias before the Maccabean uprising.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
