Region: Tunisie (Sud-Ouest, gouvernorat de Tozeur)
Intersection register · custodian, not owner
An oasis in the Djérid in the governorate of Tozeur (southwestern Tunisia), Tozeur possesses ancient inscriptions attesting to an early Jewish presence, confirmed by medieval sources describing a community active in trans-Saharan caravan trade. The modern community declined under the French Protectorate and emigrated after independence (1956).
Great Book being written
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
The days of this book
This book bears no memory day yet. The sources that document Tozeur give years and centuries, never a day; we do not invent one.
You know a date — a remembrance, a hilloula, the anniversary of a departure? Give it its day
