Švenčionys (in Polish Święciany, in Yiddish Sventsyan) is a city in eastern Lithuania (Švenčionys district), whose Jewish community is attested as early as the 17th century. In October 1941, during the operations of the Einsatzgruppen in the Vilnius region, several thousand Jews from Švenčionys and the surrounding area were murdered by the occupation forces and their Lithuanian auxiliaries.
