Sokal is a town in eastern Galicia (Lviv Oblast, Ukraine) whose Jewish community is attested from the 16th century onward. In the 19th century it became a Hasidic center associated with the dynasty of tsadikim of Sokal. At the beginning of the 20th century, Jews represented approximately half of the population. During the Second World War, nearly the entire community was murdered, principally at Bełżec.

The days of this book
This book bears no memory day yet. The sources that document Sokal give years and centuries, never a day; we do not invent one.
