Sint Eustatius, a small island of the Dutch Caribbean, was in the 17th–18th centuries one of the most active commercial entrepôts in the Caribbean, nicknamed "The Golden Rock." A Sephardic merchant community was established there, participating in trade between Europe, the Americas, and the other islands; a Jewish cemetery still bears witness to this presence.
