Pasvalys (Posvol in Yiddish), a town in northern Lithuania, was home to a Jewish community attested since the 17th century, active in regional trade. Shortly after the beginning of the German occupation in the summer of 1941, virtually all of the town's Jews were murdered in mass shootings by the Einsatzgruppen and their collaborators.
