Nandgaon, a locality on the Konkan coast (Maharashtra), was among the coastal villages where the Bene Israel were established before their migration to Bombay in the 19th and 20th centuries. The community lived there by farming and small trades, maintaining its own religious practices in the relative isolation of the rural environment.
