Mszczonów, known in Yiddish as Amshinov, is the birthplace of the Amshinover Hasidic dynasty, founded in the 19th century by Rabbi Simha Bunem of Amshinov. The Jewish community had been established there since the 18th century and constituted a significant portion of the local population. During the Holocaust, the Jews of Mszczonów were deported and murdered; the community was annihilated.
