Mediaș (Mediasch in German), a town in Saxon Transylvania (Sibiu County, Romania), welcomed a Jewish community primarily from the 19th century onward, following the relaxation of settlement restrictions in Transylvania. In May–June 1944, under Hungarian administration, the Jews of Mediaș were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau along with the Jews of Northern Transylvania.

The days of this book

This book bears no memory day yet. The sources that document Mediaș give years and centuries, never a day; we do not invent one.
