Ma'on (Negev), a village in the northern Negev, is renowned for its Byzantine synagogue with figurative mosaics (5th–6th century), whose pavement depicts a menorah, an ark, and animal motifs. It is one of the major archaeological discoveries for our knowledge of Jewish life in late Roman Palestine.
