Region: Mozambique
Lourenço Marques (now Maputo), former capital of Portuguese Mozambique, welcomed at the turn of the twentieth century a Jewish community composed primarily of immigrants from South Africa and Lithuanians fleeing persecution. Active in trade and the liberal professions, this community declined after Mozambican independence (1975), with most of its members emigrating to South Africa or Israel.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
