Lesko, a town in southern Galicia (Subcarpathia), had an ancient Jewish community attested since the sixteenth century. Among its most notable vestiges, the Renaissance Jewish cemetery of the sixteenth–seventeenth century, with sculpted stelae of great artistic quality, is one of the best preserved in southern Poland. The community was destroyed during the Shoah.
