Kyjov (Gaya in German), a town in southern Moravia, possessed a Jewish community attested since the sixteenth century with a preserved ancient cemetery. The community was part of the many Moravian communities that experienced a gradual decline in the nineteenth century before being entirely annihilated during the Shoah.
