Kremenets (Krzemieniec) is a city in Volhynia (today Ukraine) with an ancient Jewish community and a renowned yeshiva, nicknamed the 'Athens of Volhynia' for its high cultural level. The Jewish community was exterminated by the Einsatzgruppen and Ukrainian nationalists between 1941 and 1942.
