A suburb of Augsburg (Bavaria), Kriegshaber welcomed from the 17th century Jewish families expelled from the imperial city of Augsburg, which refused them access. The community, endowed with a synagogue and cemetery, illustrates the phenomenon of "peripheral communities" characteristic of German imperial cities.
