A Rhenish town in Rhineland-Palatinate, Bad Kreuznach was home to a medieval Jewish community (attested as early as the 12th century) and a modern community documented from the 18th century, with a mikvé and synagogue. The medieval presence was interrupted by the persecutions of the Black Death.
