Khassavyourt, a town on the plain of northern Dagestan, saw families of Tat Jews (Juhuro) settle there in the 19th century, fleeing the unrest of the Caucasus. The community contributed to the networks of Mountain Jews that extended from Azerbaijan to Chechnya.
