A city in Greek western Macedonia on Lake Kastoria, Kastoria was home to an ancient Romaniote Jewish community, later joined by Sephardim after 1492. Its inhabitants were renowned for fur work, a trade they spread as far as the United States; the community was deported and exterminated in 1943.
