Jebenhausen, a Swabian village near Göppingen (Baden-Württemberg), became from the seventeenth century onward one of the principal centers of rural Jewish settlement in southwestern Germany, welcoming families expelled from neighboring towns. After emancipation in the nineteenth century, the community gradually migrated to Göppingen; the synagogue of Jebenhausen is today a listed historic monument.
