Le cimetière juif de Riga dit « Šmerļi » (rue Lizuma 4) fut ouvert dans les années 1920 pour prendre le relais de l'ancien cimetière juif de la ville ; il s'étend sur environ 93 000 m² et compte environ 22 500 emplacements. Il fut conçu par l'architecte juif Paul Mandelstam, dont la clôture et la chapelle funéraire subsistent. Présenté comme le plus grand cimetière juif des pays baltes, ses registres d'inhumation ont été numérisés et sont consultables en ligne en russe, letton et anglais.
