Region: Éthiopie (Amhara, lac Tana)
Intersection register · custodian, not owner
The Fogera district, on the eastern shore of Lake Tana (Amhara region, Ethiopia), is one of the best-documented areas of historical settlement of the Beta Israel. Villages such as Kossoye and Ambober concentrated significant communities there in the 16th–19th centuries. The region was a center of Beta Israel resistance before the progressive dispersal of communities toward cities and, later, toward Israel.
