Cuddalore, a port in Tamil Nadu, temporarily welcomed Jews connected to the merchant community of Madras (Chennai) in the context of British and Dutch colonial trade in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Jewish presence there was fleeting and did not give rise to a lasting organized community.
