Chennamangalam, a village in Kerala, is home to one of the oldest synagogues in India: a Hebrew inscription on a tombstone dates it to 1269, making it one of the oldest Jewish monuments on the subcontinent. The synagogue, associated with the Malabar community, is today listed and partially restored.

The days of this book

This book bears no memory day yet. The sources that document Chennamangalam give years and centuries, never a day; we do not invent one.

You know a date — a remembrance, a hilloula, the anniversary of a departure? Give it its day
