Castelló d'Empúries, the medieval seat of the county of Empúries in Catalonia, was home to an active Jewish aljama documented from the 12th century onward. The community had its own synagogue and cemetery; it participated in the economic and intellectual life of the county until the violence of 1391 and the expulsion of 1492.

The days of this book
