Brindisi, an Apulian port on the Adriatic, sheltered a Jewish community since Antiquity, attested in rabbinic and Byzantine sources. In the Middle Ages, the community was active in tanning and Mediterranean maritime trade. It was expelled under the expulsion decrees of the Kingdom of Naples under Spanish rule (1541).

The days of this book

This book bears no memory day yet. The sources that document Brindisi give years and centuries, never a day; we do not invent one.
