Beth Alpha, an ancient village in the Jezreel Valley, is famous for its Byzantine synagogue (5th–6th century) whose mosaic floor depicts the sacrifice of Isaac (Akeda), a zodiac with twelve signs, and an Ark of the Covenant. Discovered in 1928, this mosaic is one of the most iconic in ancient Jewish archaeology.
