Bar-le-Duc, the prefecture of the Meuse, hosted a Jewish community in the Duchy of Bar, whose presence is attested from the 17th to the 19th centuries. A synagogue was built in the 19th century during the reorganization of the Jewish faith under the Concordat regime.
