Intersection register · custodian, not owner
Bar, a town in Podolia, was home to an ancient Jewish community present since at least the 16th century. In 1648–1649, during the massacres carried out by the Cossacks of Khmelnytsky, the community was decimated — an episode etched into collective Jewish Memory (Gezerot Tah veTat). The town subsequently became a Jewish commercial center before being devastated again during the Holocaust.
