Akkerman (today Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, in Ukraine) is a former Ottoman city of Bessarabia, on the Dniester estuary. A Jewish community is documented there from the late Ottoman period, forming part of Bessarabia as historically shared between the Ottoman Empire, Russia, and Romania.
