A Piedmontese town in Monferrat (province of Alessandria), Acqui Terme was home to a Jewish community with a ghetto and synagogue documented in the 17th and 18th centuries, under the dukes of Savoy and then the Habsburgs. The community was among those who benefited from the Napoleonic emancipation edicts.
