Diaspora Research Institute – Bar-Ilan University

Affiliated with Bar-Ilan University, the Diaspora Research Institute conducts research on the history and culture of Jewish communities in the Diaspora, with particular emphasis on Eastern Europe and the Jews of the USSR in the twentieth century. It builds and maintains specialized archives, notably on Jewish community life in Eastern Europe before and after the Shoah, the Zionist movement in the Diaspora, and the social life of emigrant communities. The center publishes academic works in Hebrew, English, and other languages on the social and cultural history of Jews outside Israel. It cooperates closely with the Leo Baeck Institute in New York and European partners.
