The Carolina Rediviva University Library of Uppsala, founded in 1620, holds one of the most significant Hebrew collections in Scandinavia, assembled in the seventeenth century through Orientalist acquisitions and war booty from Swedish campaigns in Germany and Poland. It contains biblical manuscripts, talmudic and kabbalistic texts, and rare Hebrew incunabula. This collection is catalogued in the ALVIN database and partially digitized. It is essential for studying the relationship between the Swedish Lutheran Church and Hebrew culture in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
