Founded in 2001 at the Technische Universität Braunschweig in partnership with the Center for Jewish Art at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Bet Tfila is a German-Israeli research center specializing in the survey, documentation, and study of the sacred and civil architecture of Jewish communities in Europe. Its interdisciplinary approach situates the Jewish built heritage within its shared cultural context with other religious traditions. Its documentary holdings include plans, photographs, and data on hundreds of synagogues and communal buildings across the continent. The institution is referenced within the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) network.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
