History register · custodian, not owner
Founded in 1949 by survivors who were members of ghetto resistance movements, Beit Lohamei HaGhettaot houses the world's first Shoah memorial museum and rich documentary archives. Its holdings include letters, diaries, oral and video testimonies, photographs, ghetto council documents, clandestine proclamations, and minutes of resistance meetings in occupied countries. An agreement signed in 2004 with the USHMM enabled the reproduction of more than 1.5 million pages of archives. The research room, open to the public, provides intranet access to all digitized collections.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
