Né à Rabat en 1940 dans une famille sioniste (son père était rabbin), il émigre en Israël en 1948. Figure majeure du cinéma israélien et du genre « bourekas », il a joué dans plus de 40 films et en a réalisé une quinzaine. Lauréat de trois prix Ophir (dont un pour l'ensemble de sa carrière). Décédé le 18 janvier 2025.
