Considéré comme l'un des plus grands rabbins de sa génération à Meknès ; il dirigea pendant près de 70 ans une yéchiva dans la synagogue bâtie par son père et refusa des charges judiciaires pour ne pas cesser d'enseigner. Maître de Moché Berdugo. Sa tombe devint lieu de pèlerinage (surnommé « Moul Elkrma »).
