יוסף ממון מערבי

Né à Tétouan (d'où le surnom « Maaravi », le Maghrébin), il monta en Terre sainte et enseigna à Safed. Envoyé collecter des fonds, il arriva à Boukhara en 1793, y resta et entreprit de renforcer l'observance. Sous sa direction, les Juifs de Boukhara abandonnèrent le rite persan pour adopter les traditions séfarades. Il mourut à Boukhara; parmi ses descendants figure le rabbin-traducteur Shimon Hakham.
