Deuxième rebbe de Husiatyn, fils du fondateur R. Mordechai Shraga Feivish Friedman. Il dirigea la cour jusqu'en 1912 puis émigra à Tel-Aviv en 1937, y implantant l'une des premières grandes cours de type Ruzhin en Terre d'Israël (la fiche mentionne cet épisode).
