Fils de Rabbi Yisrael Yitzhak Kalish de Vorka (Warka), il fonda vers le milieu du XIXe siècle la cour hassidique d'Amshinov (Mszczonów), branche du hassidisme de Warka issu de Peshischa. Il s'y installa en 1849 et fut suivi par un grand nombre de hassidim. À sa mort en 1878, son fils Menachem Kalish lui succéda comme deuxième rebbe d'Amshinov.
