Mégorash (exilé) d'Espagne originaire de Grenade, il s'installe à Safi vers 1500 et en devient grand rabbin en 1510. Selon la notice familiale de moreshet-morocco.com, il était réputé pour ses talents poétiques au point de composer des contrats de mariage entièrement en vers. Sa famille (les « Ouled Ben Zmirou ») a laissé un lieu de pèlerinage à Safi.
