Né à Casablanca en 1946, il étudie à la yeshiva de Sunderland (Angleterre) puis à Lakewood (États-Unis) auprès de Rav Aharon Kotler. Nommé Av Beth Din de Marseille en 1981, il devient rosh beth din de Paris puis de France, et rabbin de la synagogue Ohalé Yaacov (19e arr. de Paris). Figure centrale du judaïsme français ; la BnF lui consacre une notice d'autorité d'auteur.
